at the Institute for Hydraulic Engineering and Calibration of Hydrometrical Current-Meters, the centre for protection against water-risks by hydraulic engineering!

Panta Rhei – everything flows. Rivers and their surroundings are life lines of nature. Concurrently they are intensely used by us. During floods this lines of life can become dangerous for us.

For sustainable flood protection and protection of our waters all measures in these habitats must be in line with human and nature. To solve these problems (often afflicted with conflicts) we develop technical decision basics.

Ecological hydraulic engineering is our main focus. Tools for our work are physical and numerical models. It is our concern to develop ecological and economical solutions using the current state of knowledge.

Furthermore we are the only one in Austria where you can get a calibration certificate for your flow velocity measuring instrument. Owing to our accreditation our results are accepted internationally.
